Netherlands vs Chile, FIFA World Cup 2014: Facts Punch of 34th Match

Pre-World Cup Spain the defending champions were tipped to top the Group B, but they find themselves eliminated as Netherlands and Chile handed them a crucifying defeat. Both Netherlands and Chile will now want to top the group so that they avoid facing Group A topper which most probably will be host nation Brazil. As two teams battle for top spot we bring to you some facts

1)     The Netherlands out of their 11 World Cup games against South American opposition have lost only twice.

2)     Out of last four World Cup matches the Netherlands have won three games in which they were trailing.

3)     If Netherlands successfully defeat Chile this will be for the second time in row they finish unbeaten in group stages.

4)     Since 1994 Netherlands have not lost a World Cup group game.

5)     In their last six World Cup games Chile have won four.

6)     Chile have secured win in only two of their last 11 World Cup matches against European opposition.

7)     In past Chile have never managed to win three successive World Cup games in the same tournament.

8)     Netherlands and Chile have met just once before that too way back in 1928 Olympic tournament. The game ended in 2-2 draw.
