Italy vs Uruguay, FIFA World Cup 2014: Facts Punch of 38th Match

Group of Death, D had three former champions placed in it and sandwiched in-between them was Costa Rica. It was always about who two out of three will progress to last 16, but Costa Rica surprised one and all with their proficient performance to be the first team from the group to qualify. England are already out, now Italy and Uruguay tied at three points each sweat it out to be the second team from the group to progress. As these former champions get ready to fight for one spot left from Group D we present to you some facts

1) Italy will only need a draw to advance to knockout stage courtesy their superior goal difference.

5) This will be Uruguay’s 50th game at the World Cup and will become ninth country to have played 50 or more World Cup matches.

6) From Just five shots on target Uruguay have managed to score three goals so far.

7) Uruguay’s star striker Luis Suarez has scored five goals in seven World Cup outings.

8) Italy won on penalties when these two sides last met in the third-place play-off at the Confederations Cup 2013.

9) Uruguay have never scored against Italy at the World Cup finals. Twice these two teams have met.

10) Head to head out of nine matches Uruguay is ahead with three wins against two losses, with four draws.
