Impressive so far Colombia have already qualified for the knockout stage and will look to stay unbeaten as they face Asian champions Japan, who can also make it to next round, provided they beat Colombia and then Greece defeats Ivory Coast. As these two teams take on each other in a Group C clash we bring to you some facts.
1) Colombia have for the first time won more than one match at a World Cup.
2) Colombia are unbeaten in their last nine games winning five and drawing four.
3) Midfielder James Rodriguez has scored in his last four appearances for Colombia. He needs one more goal to become Colombia’s top scorer in World Cup history.
4) AT World Cup Japan have never defeated a South American side.
5) Keisuke Honda is the first Japanese player to score at two separate World Cups. He has had a direct involvement in four of Japan’s last five World Cup finals goals (three goals, one assist).
6) Head-to-head Colombia and Japan have faced each other twice. Colombia won one 1-0 in the group stage of the 2003 Confederations Cup and second game was a draw 0-0 in a friendly in Japan in 2007.
